Vulnerability, Access & Support

Vulnerability, Access & Support at Dixons Commercial Insurance Brokers

At Dixons Commercial Insurance Brokers, we recognise that our clients come from all walks of life and may, at times, find themselves in vulnerable circumstances — whether due to health, financial hardship, life events, or other personal challenges. We are committed to treating every client with dignity, compassion, and tailored support.

Our Definition of Vulnerability

We define vulnerability as any situation in which a client may be especially susceptible to harm or disadvantage due to personal, social, or economic circumstances. This may include (but is not limited to):

  • Physical or mental health conditions
  • Cognitive or communication impairments
  • Financial distress or recent job loss
  • Bereavement or major life changes
  • Age-related challenges
  • Language or literacy barriers
  • Victims of fraud, abuse, or domestic violence

We understand that vulnerability is not always visible — and we train our team to listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and respond appropriately.

Our commitment to supporting vulnerable customers

As soon we think we may be engaging with a vulnerable customer, whether this is through our identification or you are approaching us, we will:

  • Immediately make a record of this and ensure we adhere to this policy
  • Provide additional opportunities for you to ask questions about the information we have provided
  • Continuously seek confirmation that you have understood the information that has been provided
  • Ask if there is anybody with you who is able to assist. If not, and we believe this will be beneficial, we will make arrangements to continue with the subject matter at another time
  • Offer you the opportunity to complete the transaction after a period of further consideration

If we can’t help a customer, we will try and make sure that they understand what alternative options are available to them.

How to Let Us Know You Need Extra Support

If you or someone you care for may benefit from additional assistance, please don’t hesitate to tell us — whether at the start of your journey with us or at any point along the way.
